Stanza for a Gothic Christmas Carol

Were we ever worth an oil painting?
We jot ourselves with chalky pencil strokes.
The fiery pixelated hand shall judge.

This indie Irish production gives Charles Dickens's Christmas classic a Macbeth/Gothic treatment. For me, the stars of director Jason Figgis's film are the rich lighting and frequent use of paintings. For a little more info, here is the IMDB page.

Finally, this is the third in a series of stanzas I am writing for A Christmas Carol adaptations. To see the others, head for my Poetry label.

  1. Thank you for this piece Jake.

    Kind regards

    1. You're welcome, Jason. It was great to see this story in such a different way. Thanks for visiting my blog.
